Herbert Clissold died from wounds on 15th April, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd West Yorkshire battalion was part of 23 Brigade, 8th Division, that had been in action at the Battle of Neuve Chapell in March 1915 and then, during April 1915, were operating in the Fleurbaix sector of the front.
